Square word puzzles: the classic Bendwords grid
The classic Bendwords puzzle uses a square grid, like a word search. The difference is that words never run in a straight line across random letters. Each word snakes through neighboring cells, up, down, left or right, and together the words fill every white cell exactly once.
How the classic grid works
In a square grid each letter touches up to four others. That keeps the paths readable, which makes the classic grid the best place to learn. Gray cells are not part of any word. Grids go from 5×5 on easy days to 7×7 on hard days in the daily game, and up to 10×10 in the books.
